One of our favourite breaking bands this year, check out their amazing single ‘Painkiller’.

Reading 5 piece Valeras are ready to make 2019 their own. The music this dynamic 5-piece produce belies their years with Rose Yagmur, Max Sealy, Katie King, Cat Beazley and George Parnell all being aged between 17-20. Live the band have paid their dues picking up a wild and devoted following. This year alone they have already toured with The Wombats, Yonaka, The Amazons, The Regrettes, Fickle Friends, Demob Happy and have appeared at Reading & Leeds Festivals, The Great Escape and Live At Leeds.

Already tipped by Radio 1, BBC Introducing, Radio X and Spotify, their single’s ‘Painkiller’ and ‘Louder’, produced by Larry Hibbitt (Sundara Karma, Nothing But Thieves) pack a punch with the band’s gorgeous vocal harmonies complimenting the raw guitars throughout. Latest single ‘Painkiller’ was added to the Radio 1 Daytime Playlist by BBC Introducing Berkshire.

Du Blonde

February 20th, 2019

Beth Jeans Houghton was born in Transylvania to a pack of albino wolves who raised her on chewing tobacco and stuffed clams. Despite they’re hospitality, love conquers all and she soon eloped to scotch corner with her shiny new stallion peter Andre.

Beth was his mysterious girl for as long as she could be, but sadly he yearned for bigger baps. taking the wrong end of his tanned stick she searched up and down the Parisian market stalls for the biggest loaf’s she could find, but alas, when she returned home, he was gone. He is currently residing somewhere in the vicinity Jordan’s breasts. Beth was gutted……Until one day, she was on a family holiday with her albino wolves in Buttermere in the Lake District.

During a dispute about the severe lack of chewing tobacco Beth left the yurt and went for a late night trot around the serene lake. not serene for long though. She soon heard a splishing and a splashing in the darkest corner of the lake. She carefully began bare-footing along the waters edge to take a closer look at the commotion.

As the sun rose golden over the nearest mountains, the waters began to swell and curdle, and three delightful heads appeared. Seeing three boys rise from the lake, Beth stared in disbelief as they emerged to show their glorious furry hind-quarters and scintillating hooves. ‘jesus on a bike’ she cried as the half men, half goats trotted gleefully towards her. ‘WE ARE YOUR DESTINY!’ they cried and Beth and the three forns embraced in a glorious two footed, six hooved love-in and vowed to make bestiality cool again and make beautiful music until their hooves fell off.

And so began the beautiful relationship between Beth Jeans Houghton & The Hooves Of Destiny….

LALA LALA + HUSSY

February 18th, 2019

“West’s music is all about light and shade, nuance and restraint… A real find.” – Breaking Act, The Sunday Times Culture
“If you’re the kind of utter pervert who regards Katy Perry and Leonard Cohen in equal esteem then the moody bedroom sparkle of Dove will most certainly appeal. Hell, if you’re pretty normal you’ll probably dig it, too.” – The Guardian
“The Lamb is a beautiful, compelling and life-affirming record about being young and confused and it’s Lillie West’ best work yet as Lala Lala” – ***** The Skinny
“West masters the delicate task of balancing self-improvement with brutal honesty.” – Pitchfork
“Lala Lala rules… the Chicago indie rock band makes music to get devilishly messy to.” – The FADER

Following the release of new album ‘The Lamb’ on Friday via Hardly Art, Lala Lala — the Chicago-based project of Lillie West — has announced European tour dates for early 2018 along with a new video.

The video for “Scary Movie” is made up of recently discovered footage, originally filmed on 16mm by West’s parents before she was born. West re-edited it for the new song, explaining: “‘Scary Movie’ is primarily about perception and the often blurred line between reality and non-reality. For the video I wanted to use this 16mm footage my parents took of each other before I was born because although I didn’t exist yet, their experience is in some way a part of me, so watching it is both familiar and disorienting. This is where I came from, but if I view it as memory, I am technically wrong. It feels real and fake at the same time, which is how every day feels sometimes, and is what the song is about.”

Doe + Milk Crimes & Joyce Delaney

February 17th, 2019

Since forming in early 2013 Doe have built a UK following with their unique brand of ‘wonky alt-pop’ (Clash Magazine). The band’s influences are rooted in 90s indie-rock, but their songwriting style and lyrical content place them very much in the present. Off-kilter time signatures, intertwining guitars and the vocal-interplay between guitarist Nicola Leel and drummer Jake Popyura stand as clear markers of a band who have honed their craft.

Following the success of their debut which was placed 6th on ABC News’ Best Albums of 2016 list, Doe released the follow up, ‘Grow into It’, in September 2018 via Big Scary Monsters (UK) and Topshelf Records (US). They’ve since taken their new material on the road across the UK, Europe and the U.S in the form of their unstoppable live act.

International Teachers of Pop + WomenSaid

February 16th, 2019

INTERNATIONAL TEACHERS OF POP – (New DISCO project from The Moonlandingz founders.)

The Moonlandingz founders/ co-songwriters, Adrian Flanagan (Eccentronic Research Council) & Dean Honer (All Seeing I) have teamed up with singer Leonore Wheatley of Nottingham’s library psych group, The Soundcarriers (Ghost Box) for an exciting new ‘nerd disco’ project called INTERNATIONAL TEACHERS OF POP and they are now taking it for a short tour around the UK.

The group formed early in 2018 at a ‘Circuit Bending’ workshop in a school in Valhalla Dale, South Yorkshire where Leonore teaches Music.

Their first live appearance was in a cave in Derbyshire (The Devils Arse) on invite from the Lord mayor of South Yorkshire and misshape pop, JARVIS COCKER.

A month later, after an A&R scramble post a triumphant BBC 6 MUSIC radio session for Marc Riley they signed an album and singles deal with Republic of Music to release their music on their own imprint, DESOLATE SPOOLS.

In the past weeks I.T.O.P. have been wowing crowds at the prestigious Somerset House with another Sheffield outsider Pop Legend, Roisin Murphy and packing out tents at Bluedot Festival at Jodrell Bank with festival appearances at Greenman Festival and Electric Fields augmented by a full live group including the throbbing disco beat of Moonlandingz drummer, Rich Westley along with arts, crafts and pottery expert, Katie Mason on additional vocals and interpretive dance.

International Teachers of Pop debut single ‘AGE OF THE TRAIN’ has just hit the radio and is already picking up traction with BBC 6 MUSIC.
