Whispering Sons is a Belgian post-punk band currently residing in Brussels. Feeding on the dynamics of the city, their music unveils feelings of alienation, propelled by an urging and ominous sound. Their live performances feel agitated and uneasy, yet always remain raw and honest. Whispering Sons’ first EP ‘Endless Party’ was released in 2015, followed by two 7 inches in 2016 and 2017. After winning Humo’s Rock Rally in 2016, one of Belgium’s most prestigious national contests, the band has been touring Belgium and Europe extensively, establishing their strong live reputation. Their debut album ‘Image’ will be out October 19, 2018.

“Supergrass crossed with Kasabian? I think they’re very much better than that”, Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music

“This is huge, it is really good, really really like it!” Chris Murray, Amazing Radio

“They really know how to write a tune”, Gordon Smart, Radio X

This North West band just might be the hardest working unsigned rock act in the UK right now. In the 4 years since they formed they’ve toured the UK, Europe, North America and worked with producers from Alan Moulder (QOTSA Villains) to Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers) and Chris Sheldon (Foo Fighters).

Their latest single, What My Problem, is a modern British take on the classic grunge sound and caps off a successful trilogy of tracks released in rapid succession since September 2018.

Maxsta + Scruloose

March 18th, 2019

PCL Presents
MAXSTA
+ Scruloose
Monday 18th March
Broadcast, Glasgow

Tickets available Via See Tickets & In-store at Tickets-Scotland

Eight years since the release of his 2010 cult favourite ‘Maxtape,’ Grime MC and producer Maxsta finally unleashes his eagerly awaited sequel, ‘Maxtape 2’. The explosive self-produced mixtape
includes the already released huge single ‘Born On Your Own’ Ft Jme, electrifying ‘Badmanism’ and reflective ‘Off To Work’ – out now via Caroline International.

‘Maxtape 2’ is loaded with superbly produced beats and powerful vocals, that showcase Maxsta’s ability to take his music to the next level without leaving the original essence of his relatable lyrics, hard-hitting sound and style behind – creating modern grime classics. The fifteen-track mixtape includes ‘Rider’ that features vocal from fellow East London songstress Lylo Gold and previously released favourite ‘Guns And Roses’ ft Smoke Boys’ Inch. On ‘Maxtape 2’, Maxsta says “It’s an honest attempt at making grime,”
he offers. “Leaving the ego at the door and just trying to go forth and translate human feeling into grime as best and realistically as possible.”

Since releasing new material earlier this year, Maxsta has received support from the likes of BBC 1Xtra (DJ Target and Toddla T), Radio 1, Capital Xtra and Rinse FM, and features on influential streaming
playlists across Spotify (‘New Music Friday’ and ‘Grime Shutdown’), Apple Music (‘Best Of The Week’, ‘The New London’), Amazon (UK Fire, The State Of Grime) and Deezer (‘Instant Grime’, ‘Brand New
UK’). Maxsta has also garnered support from tastemaker publications such as The Independent, Complex UK, CMU Daily, TRENCH, Link Up TV, and RWD Magazine. The epic ‘Born On Your Own’ video premiered on Apple Music and was then released via GRM Daily, you can watch it here: https://youtu.be/Oc9lYgX0lUE.

23-year-old, East Londoner Maxsta has been active in the grime scene since his teenage years, where he’d observe Roll Deep sessions under the mentorship of Wiley, and record tracks with royalty like Kano and Ghetts. After parting ways from a major record label, he underwent a creative reinvention

when he took a hiatus to study music production at London School of Sound. The addition of production to his arsenal has been transformative to his progress, taking the time to research deeper in to sonics, and examining a broad spectrum of influences from Calvin Harris to MJ Cole. Maxsta returned to the game dropping standalone singles like ‘King Dizzee’, which eventually led him to create ‘Maxtape 2’. ‘Maxtape 2’ serves as an introduction to Maxsta the all-encompassing artist, taking full creative control of his music. A rising talent unfolding, Maxsta continues to prove that he has the ability to reach the upper echelons of the grime sphere and with more music to come in the new year, he is an undeniable artist to watch leading into 2019.
