Hailing from the streets of Bristol – Datkid part of the Split Prophets collective and just newly added to the High Focus record label.

Datkid blew up into the hip hop game in 2012, dropping heavyweight rhyme schemes in verses alongside the rest of the crew, plenty of ridiculously good cypher videos and, more recently, the title track of this album, Home by 8.

From Split Prophets crew and affiliates including Bil Next, Sirplus, Paro, T-Vision, Res, MAB, D. Green, Lowdose and Jay Wilcox keep a posse cut feel throughout the album which is dope and adds a lot of energy at times. However, Datkid proves he can hold it down himself on tracks such as Supreme, Bang and most of all Family Fortunez.

With strong support from:
GASP
Wee D
Mackenzie

Team Picture + hazed & holy loaf

April 17th, 2019

Expert stage-overcrowders Team Picture are a six piece bubblegaze-lurch-core outfit who live in the north of england. They released a miniature album called RECITAL in June 2018 in which they went full blown electro-joy on one side, and balls to the wall exploding speaker-cone on the other. they’ve played with pretty-cool-guys like Rolling Blackouts and Parquet Courts recently, and they’re spending the whole start of 2019 recording some positive new sounds that will make you go ‘mhmm, yes’ or at least ‘oh, ok’. also they’re then probably going play a bunch of these tunes all spring long

Icelandic electronic dream-pop trio Vök officially announce their sophomore full-length LP In The Dark slated for release on March 1st, 2019. They’ve already shared three album single and the new single, “Spend The Love ” frontwoman Margrét Rán comments: “Originally written to be a ‘gay’ anthem song, ‘Spend The Love’ is our new dance song which tackles the theme of anti-consumerism. There is a humour in it and a hypocrisy”.

“Spend The Love” follows the release of earlier album singles “Night & Day” and “Autopilot,” The trio are on the heels of a string of highly successful live dates, including their U.S. debut with several concerts in select cities as well as their live performances at this year’s Iceland Airwaves Festival in Reykjavík and support for Editors in Germany & Poland in November. In The Dark is an eleven track collection written and recorded by Margrét Rán and Einar Stef in collaboration with UK producer James Earp. The LP sees Vök exploring their pop sound even further than before, creating their most immediate sounding and most accessible album yet. Recorded in Vök’s home studio in Reykjavík and in Notting Hill, London in early 2018, each song on In the Dark has its own definable character or theme, from “Night & Day’s” obsession to “Autopilot’s” crushing disappointment.

More On Vök:
Vök (named after the Icelandic word for ‘hole in the ice’) are an electronic dream-pop band based in Reykjavík. The band first gained recognition within months of forming when they won Iceland’s prestigious Músíktilraunir (‘Music Experiments’), a battle of the bands contest where past alumni winners include Mammút, Of Monsters And Men, and Samaris. Their triumph soon led to the recording and release of their debut EP Tension through local Icelandic label Record Records — to a slew of positive and glowing reviews. Soon they began to further mark themselves out as rising innovators of
smart, atmospheric jams on their second EP Circles. Hailed by Noisey as “channelling the Beach soundtrack via 1980s synth pop and the modern sexiness of The Knife,” the Circles EP won them even more positive praise and key tastemaker support.
After playing shows and festivals in Europe, winning numerous new fans along the way with their brand of dreamy electronics with melodic vocals, the band soon caught the attention of Nettwerk Music Group (Angus & Julia Stone, Boxed In, The Veils), who instantly signed them for an international record deal. 2017 saw the release of their highly anticipated debut LP ‘Figure’ to critical acclaim. Produced by Jack Garrett collaborator Brett Cox, The Line of Best Fit hailed it a “brilliant debut album”. ‘Figure’ won Album of the Year in the Electronic Music category at this year’s Icelandic Music Awards.
Vök has toured extensively through Europe, supporting the likes of Goldfrapp and Asgeir, and performing at festivals including Roskilde, Green Man, Iceland Airwaves, and Into the Woods.

“…the synth-pop dance anthem is sure to reach chart heights”
Flaunt

“cool electro-disco…with an overarching slick, late-’80s synth-pop feel”
BlackBook

“can make you feel warm and happy… & Margrét Rán’s gentle voice floating on top”
Magnetic Magazine

“Led by the supremely talented Margrét Rán…gentle melodic muscle”
The Line of Best Fit

“the hype around Margrét Rán and co …. in fact completely justified.”
Clash

“Easy-listening songs that have unexpected, plunging depths.”
Consequence of Sound

“Meditative electronic music full of chilly, detached atmospherics”
Stereogum

Straight Arrows have honed their fresh, reverb-laden, fuzzed out, psychedelic punk sound into pointed perfection with On Top. From the frantic buzzsaw of “Nothing To Me”, to the break-beat groove of “21st Century”, to the tender outsider folk of “Dead Weight”, to the mind-melting psych-out that is “Buried Again”, this is the sound of a band that isn’t short on ideas and isn’t afraid to push the envelope of what people expect a Straight Arrows record to be.
