NEONWAVES + Lightning Trip

December 27th, 2019

Neonwaves are attracting a lot of attention with their unique brand of dark atmospheric indie rock.

Having formed as a five piece band based in Glasgow in early 2016, they quickly built a following and headlined several of Glasgow’s better venues such as King Tuts, as well as supporting such bands as BBC introducing act Lake Komo, 90s Brit pop starlets Echobelly and Australia’s City Calm Down. The band have been likened to acts such as Editors, Joy Division and The Stone Roses, and whilst there is certainly a nod to the influences of these bands they have a sound very much their own.

In September 2017 Neonwaves released their debut self titled EP accompanied by a very successful launch night in Glasgow’s Stereo. There is an eclectic mix of musical influences at work within the band which makes their post-punk indie sound unique, and the band aim to create ambient soundscapes that intertwine with driving choruses and “hard hitting” lyrics.

The bands latest track along with video ” A Wish To Be Seen” has seen some great reviews and airplay with more great releases and live shows pending in the near future.

 Update

New Track ” NOSTALGIA” Is out now and available on most platforms ..

‘“Nostalgia” is further reinforcement that NEONWAVES are ready for the next step and I really hope that someone in radio gives them some airplay…’

Chris has his say on ‘Nostalgia’ the new single from NEONWAVES.

Jowe Head is a musician and artist from the Midlands of England, now living in east London. He started his musical career with Swell Maps in the late 1970s, and they are now known as legendary pioneers of what is now referred to as the “Alternative Rock” scene. They set up their own record label, and mixed Punk Rock with experimental psychedelic sounds. Swell Maps released four singles and two albums in a brief but dramatic career, that led to them topping the UK independent charts, and influencing bands such as Sonic Youth, Nirvana, and Blur. When they broke up, Jowe joined the Television Personalities, headed by another legend of UK Independent Music, Dan Treacy. Ten years with the TVPs saw Jowe touring Europe regularly, and playing in Japan and the USA.
