All Hail Swami John Reis. He of Rocket From The Crypt and Hot Snakes and Drive Like Jehu and many, many others. His latest career decision is the formation of Swami And The Bed Of Nails. Their sound is ever evolving but at the moment is firmly rooted in the early sounds of punk rock and rock n roll.
They offer an immediate blast of joy that celebrates our time on earth. It is nostalgia for a past that most likely never happened. It is an idealized pursuit intended to elevate the status of the simplest pleasures and ridicule the unattractive lust of the unhindered ambitious. The music is a reenactment of the past lives of elderly teenagers returning once again to sustain their echo.
Join them in this pursuit live and in concert and hear songs complaining about the crappy tools at Harbor Freight, lusting for hot dogs, getting electrocuted in the penis, charlatans disguised as angels and refusing to ask for directions.

Plantoid’s debut album Terrapath harnesses prog rock, jazz, fusion, folk, and even a bit of ‘70s hard rock for good measure. It was released this year on Bella Union (the label founded by Simon Raymonde and Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins).

Plantoid are one of those bands that exceed the sum of their parts, with each member bringing a unique flavour that enhances their sound tenfold. Tom has been playing guitar practically his whole life, and his style, which fluctuates from lush finger-picking to reverb-laden rock riffs, sits very comfortably on top of Louis’ jazz-infused drumming and Bernardo’s intricate basslines. The band find their ace-in-the-hole with Chloe, however—as well as serving as Plantoid’s principle lyricist, her soaring vocals, at times both angelic and alien, propel each song on Terrapath to new heights.

South Yorkshire’s answer to Buzzcocks meet The Sweet – Mock Tudors are the latest band from Tom Diffenthal (Family Selection Box, Mr Ben & the Bens), Ben Hall (Mr Ben & the Bens) and Richard Birkin (Hot Souls).
Their frenetic glam infused garage-rock oozed from the basement of ‘Delicious Clam’ in Sheffield in January of 2022. Since then the band have released a set of EPs alongside a bootleg LP, toured extensively with the likes of The Bug Club & The Futureheads, and played live in session twice for BBC 6 Music.
With songs about everything from domestic recycling politics (Bin Day), to a PTA meeting gone awry (Nutbush Coffee Morning) Mock Tudors write it so you don’t have to. The band’s truly DIY approach sees them creating everything in-house, from music videos and artwork to handmade leather and ceramic merchandise. This band is a semi-professional Tudor cottage industry… just don’t tell the Lord of the manor.
