Absolutely no one makes music like The Body.
With each release, the duo of Lee Buford and Chip King continue to defy the constraints of what it means to be a “heavy” band, seamlessly combining composition or production approaches from hip hop, pop, classical, as well as rock and electronica resulting in a rich and utterly singular sound. Equally at home on festival stages, art spaces, or in DIY basements, they transcend musical boundaries. Their ambitious creativity shapes their bleak worldview into propulsive, affecting, and even danceable music often drenched in distortion. On I Have Fought Against It, But I Can’t Any Longer The Body challenged themselves again by turning their compositional approach on its head, choosing to build the record on their own samples rather than recording the basic tracks of drums and guitars and processing those. The results carry the listener towards the brink of emotional and musical extremes. I Have Fought Against It… conjures the sublime from an unexpected and incomparable variety of sounds.
The Body are known for their intense, abrasive live shows, whose waves of dissonance create an abiding dread or an overwhelming sense of terror. They create a volume of sound almost unfathomable from a duo and are unaffected by instrument choice: guitar and drums, or keyboard and synthesizers. Inventive producers, the duo expand their recorded sound palate with regular contributions from the likes of Chrissy Wolpert (Assembly of Light Choir), and Ben Eberle (Sandworm), arranged with help of longtime engineers Seth Manchester and Keith Souza (Machines With Magnets). Wolpert’s ethereal calls and Eberle’s vicious growl are augmented by Lingua Ignota’s Kristin Hayter, whose impassioned voice features on the viscerally emotional “nothing stirs.” On “sickly heart of sand,” vocal tradeoffs between King and Hayter’s are punctuated with the howls of Uniform’s Michael Berdan. With The Body’s keen sense of balance, the ferociousness of these extreme performances are underpinned by the elegance of string swells and pensive, even melodies from a lone piano.
For The Body, any source of inspiration is fair game to achieve their distinct atmosphere of unbearable dread, pain, and sadness. “Partly alive” places rolling drum figures, commonly found in pop, and transforms them with a backdrop of horns, skittering synthetic hi hats, and pitched feedback. The oppressive groove of “an urn” pulls beat arrangement and melodic ideas from disparate electronic influences. Their eclectic sampling choices are both musical and literary from singjay star Eek-A-Mouse to a reading of Bohumil Hrabal to the Clarice Lispector quote on the album’s artwork and beyond. The album title, an excerpt of Virginia Woolf’s suicide letter, is an apt moniker for the pervasive themes of loss, desperation and loneliness throughout. Carefully selected samples and literary references bolster the album’s emotional heft. I Have Fought Against It, But I Can’t Any Longer proves how truly adventurous and diverse a creative force The Body has become. The Body continue to push the boundaries and definition of what is heavy music, their ingenuity unparalleled.

Sydney rock/pop outfit PLANET is the culmination of several years of trial and error in songcraft, performance and production. They were first brought together by their shared love of music: old and new, foreign and domestic. Drawing influences from past and present the four-piece combine pop laden guitar hooks with soaring vocal melodies. The result is a sound which is reminiscent of Britpop but remains undeniably Australian.

“The barely tonal beats of tracks like “Shots Fired” have this way of making it feel like the 808s are falling apart or dissociating, like a crowd dispersing as Jones and Black spin kick in the center… acid drenched tracks draw on the history of industrial music, metal iconography and experimental club music.” (Noisey)
“Prison Religion are one of the most hardcore, rap-related acts we’ve heard in years. No cock out business, just Philip Best levels of mic-burning bile and vitriol shrieked and expectorated over bludgeoning beats, field recordings and charred electronics.” (Boomkat)
“It’s a noisy, industrial, mess of cathartic, raging. Hardcore Punk music for club kids.” (Passion Of The Weiss)

The Physics House Band are Sam Organ (guitar/keys), Adam Hutchison (bass/keys), Dave Morgan (drums) and Miles Spilsbury (saxophone/keys). The four create avant-garde compositions that capture everything from jazz to prog to psych to doom-metal, all combined together with a furious energy transcending to their mind-bending live shows.
Their recently completed third, ‘Death Sequence’, record explores further into the expanses of intense darkness and light. Soft ambient synths explode into chaotic battles between angular guitars and saxophones. The gentle moments are softer, the intense moments more visceral than ever. This is a band that has to be experienced live.

Born and raised in Tennessee, songwriter Will Hoge made his name honing a blend of soulful Americana and heartland rock & roll. Over the course of his almost 20 year career he’s had a string of chart topping singles, TV placements, and media accolades along with nominations from the ACM, CMA’s and Grammy Awards. Although he’s grateful for the commercial success that songs such as “Even if It Breaks Your Heart” “Middle of America” and “Strong” have received, even more important to him is the freedom to stand up for his convictions and put them into his music when the time calls for it.
Never afraid to wade into political territory, Hoge has expressed his observations and frustration with human rights issues on 2004’s The America EP (“Bible Vs. Gun,” “Hey Mr. President (Anyone But You)”) and on 2012’s Modern American Protest Music (“Ballad of Trayvon Martin,” “Jesus Came to Tennessee”). But as conflicts continued and intensified, Hoge claimed “Silence couldn’t be part of my deal anymore.” Border police. Political corruption. Anti-intellectualism. Poverty. Gun control. A broken education system. Indifference to others’ suffering. Hoge confronts them all head-on with his new release, My American Dream, (out Oct. 5th on Edlo Records/Thirty Tigers), the fiercest, angriest, empathetic and most heartfelt collection of songs he’s released to date. This collection of eight tracks including “Thoughts & Prayers”, “Gilded Walls”, “Stupid Kids” and “Illegal Line” push Hoge — and his listeners — even further outside of the comfort zone.
Will is an avid activist, lending his time and resources to raise awareness and money for organizations such as Believe in Service and Everytown for Gun Safety. His social media pages are a microcosm of sorts for the wider conversations taking place in the world today, as he challenges his fans to examine the important questions that need to be asked.

Since their formation in 2016, West London’s Mantra have mesmerized listeners with spellbinding melodies propelled by powerhouse riffs and thundering drums. Signing to Dine Alone Records (Alexisonfire, Jimmy Eat World, Dashboard Confessional)
for their I W ant EP in 2017, Mantra’s infectious alt – rock has earned
support from BBC Radio 1, BBC Introducing , and Amazing Radio.
Alongside performing with Jane’s Addiction, Radkey, and Snow Patrol guitarist Nathan Connolly’s band Little Matador, they have traveled to festivals such as SXSW, Reading and Leeds, and 2000 Trees. This has all set the stage for Mantra’s forthcoming debut album,Dreamland, recorded with producer Tom Dalgety (Royal Blood, Ghost, The Pixies) to intensify their explosive sonic prowess.
The seeds of Mantra were first planted when singer/guitarist
Simon Stark found himself in the midst of an existential crisis during his studies at university. “I just didn’t want to be there; it was numbing for me. Music was the only thing that actually meant som
ething.” Regrouping with bassist Richard Leeds, Stark’s teenage
friend from his formative years skateboarding on the streets of Baling, the duo enlisted drummer Rob Emms after he answered a musicians wanted ad. “Rob’s from somewhere up north,” Stark jokes, “maybe Middle Earth…” The album’s recording began aboard
